Good junk mail

I received a great piece of advertising junk mail the other day (before the rotating postal strike hit Calgary).  It is from a local car dealership in town, but when I first looked in the mailbox, it looked like a hand written note from a next door neighbour.  And that is what is so cool about it.

It’s not your typical dealership ad.  It looks handwritten with a Sharpie, with scribbles and a crude map.  It’s very ingenious, eye-catching and attention-grabbing.  I give some kudos to Tower Chrysler for their innovative campaign.  It certainly caught my attention!  Some  pictures of the flyer are posted below.  What are your thoughts?  Is there a way to create an effective mail advertising piece anymore?
