Not the centre of the universe

Once again, Canadian media proves they believe that Toronto is the centre of the universe. That city had its municipal election today, and it was covered on several Canadian television stations, the Globe & Mail was all over it all day (yes, I know the Globe is a Toronto-based newspaper)…

Does anyone else in the West find it frustrating that the “Toronto is so wonderful” thinking is still so prevalent? As you may recall from one of my previous posts, the Calgary municipal election was broadcast on one local station; hell, the swearing-in ceremony of our new mayor and aldermen is only being broadcast on one local station (the same one).

Most of Canada knows that the West is a huge contributor to Canada’s economy, and a very important part of the future of Canada’s success. So why are we still treated by the media like the red-headed step-child?
